Woodside Takes Over As WA-250-P Operator

Woodside Energy has farmed into exploration permit WA-250-P offshore Australia and taking over as operator of the licence. Finder Exploration sold the 90% interest to Woodside and will keep a 10% participating interest in the asset. The Permit is located in the Northern Carnarvon Basin, directly south of the Gorgon and Clio major gas fields. Large multi-TCF Triassic gas and large Cretaceous oil prospects have already been identified in the area and further seismic will soon be acquired at the block.

Australia, East Timor Reach Border Dispute Deal

An unexpected breakthrough in the boundary dispute between Australia and Timor-Leste has resurrected hopes that the stalled development of the $13 billion Sunrise LNG project will recommence. Woodside Lines Up Exploration Wells

Woodside Energy has outlined plans for further exploration wells off the coast of Australia in 2018. The operator is currently using UDW semi Atwood Osprey for its 2017 drilling campaign in the region and will use the rig to drill one further exploration well this year, namely Swell-1 in WA-483-P. The rig will be let go around October, but will then return to work with the operator in March 2018. Julimar Phase 2 Concept Selection Underway

The Woodside Energy-operated Julimar Phase 2 Development, located offshore Western Australia, has moved into the concept definition phase. The development involves four subsea wells being tied back to existing Brunello subsea infrastructure. The operator is targeting a final investment decision for the project in 2019.

Woodside To Shutdown Enfield

Woodside is to permanently shut down the Enfield oilfield in the Exmouth Basin and decommission the existing FPSO vessel by the end of this year. The field came into production in 2006 and peaked in September that year at 74,000bpd, much lees than what the company had anticipated. The operator has already filed an environmental plan with NOPSEMA for the decommissioning project. The field is in permit WA-28-L with Woodside owning a 60% interest and Mitsui the rest.

Woodside Increases Myanmar Acreage

Woodside Energy has farmed into three further blocks offshore Myanmar, expanding its portfolio and making it the largest holder of acreage in the region. The company has already signed a deal with CNPC to take a 50% interest and joint operatorship in blocks AD-1, AD-6 and AD-8 located in the Rakhine Basin. The three blocks are near the Shwe offshore area operated by Posco Daewoo.

Woodside Makes Another Gas Discovery

Transocean’s UDW drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 has made another gas discovery for Woodside offshore Myanmar in Block A-6, the third in the block after two discoveries back in 2016. The rig has now moved onto Block AD-07 and Woodside has now exercised two of its six options which will keep the rig firm until November this year. Should Woodside exercise all the remaining options the rig will remain in Myanmar until July next year.

Woodside Delivers Ahead Of Schedule And Budget

Woodside has brought its Persephone gas field online some six months ahead of schedule and 30% under budget. The development project is in permit WA-1-L off Western Australia in water depths of 130m. The development consist of two subsea wells tied back to the North Rankin complex via a 7km flowline. Woodside is partnered by BP in the venture.

Woodside Brings Persephone Online Early

The Woodside-operated Persephone gas field development project offshore Australia has been successfully been brought online six months ahead of schedule. The field is located in production license WA-1-L, some 135 km north west of Karratha, in a water depth of around 413'. The $1.2 billion Persephone project, approved in 2014, consists of two wells tied into a subsea production manifold via a seven-kilometre subsea tie-back.

Woodside Farms Into CNPC Myanmar Blocks

Woodside are evidently very optimistic about Myanmar and have increased their exploration acreage position by farming into a 50% interest in Blocks AD-1, AD-6 and AD-8 in the Rakhine basin. All three blocks are currently owned by Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and are close by Blocks AD-7 and A-6 where Woodside is currently carrying out a major exploration and appraisal drilling campaign with Trans-ocean UDW drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG 2. Woodside Pulls Out of Two WA Permits

Woodside has pulled out of two permits offshore Western Australia. The operator had a commitment to drill 5 wells in permits WA-464-P and WA-466-P and in lieu of this has reached a “Good Standing Agreement” with the Australian regulator to spend A$13m on any future acreage they are awarded. Woodside held 55% of the two permits with Shell holding the remaining 45%.

Woodside Surrenders NZ Permit PEP 55793

Woodside has surrendered permit PEP 55793 which is located in the Taranaki Basin. Woodside held a 70% interest in the permit with NZOG holding the balance but the partners have decided that although seismic studies showed some prospectivity, the leads did not meet the partners risk thresh-old. Woodside now only operates one block offshore New Zealand, PEP 55794 which is in water depths between 150-1500m. The operators does not plan to drill in the permit before 2020.

Atwood Osprey Begins With Woodside Australia

Atwood semi Atwood Osprey has completed its charter with ConocoPhillips in the Bar-ossa field offshore Australia and has now begun a one well charter with Woodside which will keep the rig busy until September. The rig then has a gap before commencing its next charter, also with Woodside, in March 2018.

Atwood Condor Arrives In Singapore

Atwood UDW semi Atwood Condor has completed its mobilization from the US Gulf and has entered KeppelFELS shipyard in Singapore for modifications and contract preparation prior to its next charter with Woodside in the Greater Enfield project offshore Australia, scheduled to start in early 2018. The rig is to add a second BOP stack and will be modified to incorporate a mooring system alongside its DP capability. The rig is contracted through to July 2019.

Woodside Myanmar Exercises Two of Five Options

Woodside has exercised two of its five outstanding options on Transocean UDW drill-ship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 which is currently drilling its last firm well for the operator in Block A-6 offshore Myanmar. Woodside will use the two options to drill another exploration well in A-6 and another in Block AD-7. The rig is now firm until December this year.

Woodside’s Persephone Gas Project To Come Online

Woodside’s Persephone gas project in permit WA-1-L offshore north west Australia is to come on stream in August this year some six months ahead of schedule and 30% under budget. The gas field, in 130m water depths, is being developed as part of the larger North West Shelf (NWS) project.

Atwood Condor and Transocean Discoverer Are On the Move

Both Atwood UDW semi Atwood Condor and Transocean UDW drillship Discoverer Luan-da continue to head towards the region and are currently in the Indian Ocean. Discover-er Luanda has mobilized from Angola and is due to arrive in Labuan, where it will be stacked on contract, on 15th July. BP has the rig contracted until February 2018. Meanwhile Atwood Condor has now passed Mauritius and is heading to Singapore where it will undergo contract preparation before moving onto Australia towards the end of the year for its 12 well charter with Woodside set to begin in January 2018.

Woodside are Seeking to Renew Permits NT-RL-2 and NT-RL-4

Woodside are seeking to renew their stakes in permits NT-RL-2 and NT-RL-4 for another 5-year term. The current term expires in December. The permits contain the Sunrise and Troubador gas fields. Partners in the two gas fields are Shell, ConocoPhillips and Osaka Gas as well as Woodside.

Atwood Osprey Has Mobilized For Woodside

Atwood deepwater semi Atwood Osprey has completed its charter with ConocoPhillips in the Barossa field offshore Western Australia with a successful apprais-al well and has now mobilized to permit WA-483-P in the North Carnarvon Basin also off Western Australia for its one well charter with Woodside which will keep the rig busy until around No-vember. The rig’s next charter, also with Woodside does not start until March 2018.

Woodside’s Myanmar Operations Continue to Progress

Transocean UDW drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 continues its charter with Woodside offshore Myanmar and is now drilling the third well, in 2005m water depths, under its 3+5 well contract in Block A-6. Woodside also has plans to drill in Block AD-7 and assuming the options are exercised the rig will stay busy until around May 2018.
